More than 100,000 people have logged on to UPM-Kymmene’s Forest Life website since it was launched in March.

The website, which was awarded the Association of Finnish Foresters and Nordea Bank Forest Act of the Year award in August, is designed to promote the social, environmental and economic benefits Finland’s forests bring to the country by allowing them to take a “virtual forest stroll”.

“We are glad that the site has become so popular. It has attracted visitors from across all continents,” said Jaakko Sarantola, senior vice-president of forestry and wood sourcing at UPM.

Mr Sarantola noted the website had been visited by users from France, Canada, New Zealand and Brazil, highlighting its global appeal to the international community.
