A modular decking system has been developed in Sweden specifically for the UK DIY market.
The system will be launched in 200 Focus DIY stores throughout the UK in March and the company will have exclusive rights for the first six months.
Andy Rhodes, Focus’ buyer for garden architecture, said the system – to be called Deck in a Box – is aimed at people who will be able to take it away in a car.
He said: “We have been working with SCA Timber to come up with an idea and this was the result – the first system aimed at the DIY market.”
The system is the product of four companies – SCA Timber and three businesses in the north of Sweden, Nordingrå Trä, Nylands Trä och Träimpregnering and Träteam Bröderna Nyberg.

Scunthorpe-based SCA Timber Supply will be responsible for ensuring stocks are maintained in the Focus group stores after the March launch.
The system will be available in various sizes and designs and includes accessories such as balustrades, steps and pergolas.
Mr Rhodes said: “The deck boards will come in 1.2m and 2.4m lengths and people will be able to add to them like Lego.”
