Norfolk-based Flooring Supplies has won a national award for using the internet to transform itself into a multi-million pound business.

The company scooped the “Best growth through use of technology” prize in the Sage Business Awards 2003, run in conjunction with the Daily Telegraph.

Flooring Supplies demonstrated how its use of the internet had changed it from a “one man and a van” operation into a business attracting 120 new customers a week from across the country in just three years.

Managing director Adrian Lee knew wooden flooring was perceived as being expensive, with delivery times often stretching to 12 weeks.

By using the internet, the company has removed the need for a high street presence and it now has £800,000 worth of stock, the majority of which is available for next-day delivery.
