Timber frame supplier Flight Timber Products Ltd has completed the takeover of B&J Group Ltd in a move which increases Flight’s order book and strengthens its position in the UK market.

The deal will see B&J become the Suffolk division of Flight and change its name to Flight Timber Products.

B&J’s 32,000ft2 factory in Rendlesham will take over as the manufacturing facility for both divisions.

Flight will maintain a presence in or close to Earls Colne, Essex as a design/administration office, which will be substantially expanded with additional designers being trained in the coming months.

Flight took control of B&J’s assets in late March after the latter’s owner Dean Jennings began to look for a buyer or trading partner to facilitate the company’s growth. Mr Jennings has now been appointed as a director at Flight.

“This acquisition has enabled Flight Timber Products Ltd to substantially increase its current order book and strengthen its standing within the timber frame industry,” said Flight Timber Products director Gary Kent.

Mr Kent said the takeover had helped increase the turnover of Flight’s parent company Direct Holdings Group to about £18m.

Flight also manufactures roof trusses and is a designer/distributor of the Steico range of I-joists.
