An FLS170 single-blade ripsaw and an UKS700 upcut cross-cut have been introduced at Northwood’s hardwood sawmill in Pulborough. The machines will be used to produce flooring and joinery compoments, mostly in oak.

Kiln dried oak boards are ripped on the 6.2m long FLS170, with defects visually assessed by the operator and removed. Timber is then fed into the UKS700 and cut to length.

The sale to Northwood follows Swiss-based Störi Mantel’s decision to break into the UK/Irish market by appointing agent Woodtech Machinery to market and service the saws.

Störi Mantel ripsaws are priced from around £23,000 and are available with bed lengths from 2-16m and cutting widths up to 3m.
