The first Delhi Wood exhibition, held in New Delhi, India from February 14 to 17 was reported a success by the organisers.

The event, covering wood working machinery , fittings, accessories, timber, sheet materials and engineered wood, attracted 297 exhibitors and 13,378 visitors.

“The response to the first show is ample proof that India is where the market is in times of economic adversity,” sai Pradeep Davaiah of the organisers PDA Trade Fairs.

He added that the show had a strong international profile, with 63% of exhibitors from abroad and national group displays taken by China, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Taiwan, Turkey and the USA.

The show was also backed by a number of overseas trade bodies, including The American Hardwood Export Council, the European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manuacturers Associations Eumabois, the Italian wood machinery association ACIMALL, German engineering federation VDMA, the Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers of America (WMMA) and the Taiwanese Woodworking Machinery Association TWMA.
