Shropshire timber frame manufacturer Christian Torsten is back in production following a fire that destroyed part of its Wem premises.

Last week’s blaze knocked out one of the company’s site buildings containing its production office, canteen, a panel saw, compressor and air tools, causing an estimated £75,000-worth of damage. But the operation’s main production facility was untouched by the flames.

Swift aid from machinery suppliers secured a return to production late last week with full output following this week.

Partner Otto Blank said that only one or two jobs would be affected by the fire. ‘Our air tools were replaced almost immediately by our suppliers and we were able to use a substitute saw,’ he added.
