The December 30 blaze at Acton Timber Yard, Long Eaton, had threatened the company’s entire premises, but firefighters managed to save the timber stock.
Local residents reported flames reaching 30ft high.
“Owing to the amount of wood on the site and the very strong winds, we had to act very quickly to tackle the fire,” said a fire brigade spokesperson.
“The strong winds were fanning the fire, which made the job very difficult, and two buildings have been damaged. The amount of damage to the site as a whole is still not know at this stage.”
