Prepared timber and sheet materials have been lost in a fire at the Edgware branch of Burnt Oak Builders Merchants last Friday night.

Eight fire engines and around 40 firefighters attended the blaze, which was brought under control by the early hours of Saturday.

The company’s Harrow branch said about 20 packs of timber were destroyed in the fire, but carcassing escaped damage.

The spokesperson said half of the shop was also damaged by fire, but the branch would remain open for business.

London Fire Brigade is investigating the cause of the blaze.
