Thousands of tdsl’s Viscount Plus fire doors will be installed at hospital projects around the country after completing further durability testing with Chiltern Dynamics.

In the latest tests, different hardware and other options were examined, enabling tdsl to offer customers a wider choice.

The tests build on the original programme in which a Viscount Plus door achieved a ‘severe duty’ classification – the most demanding classification – making it suitable for high traffic areas like hospitals, schools and large offices. The same door also completed a 30-minute fire resistance test.

Frank Gallagher, tdsl sales and marketing director, said: “We have replicated a true ‘cradle to grave’ scenario that gives clients not only a guarantee of performance but full-scale test evidence on which they can calculate, with greater certainty, the life cycle cost of the doorset.”
