Thirty thousand wooden pallets have been destroyed in a blaze at a Lancashire pallet yard.
Police and fire investigators believe that the fire at PAL Pallets and Clint Sunter Pallets in Burnley, which destroyed two-thirds of the company’s stock, could have been the work of an arsonist.
Fire-fighters from all over the region were called to the fire which threatened to spread to nearby properties. Services on a nearby rail line were also suspended.
However, company boss Paul Larriman said he would continue in business.
“There is probably around a third of my stock left,” he said. “I’ve been here 20 years and I’ve seen this kind of thing happen before.”
