A Norbord spokesperson told TTJ that the fire affected wood fibre on the chipboard production line and was believed to have been started by machinery.

Norbord described the incident as “minor”. It said the production line was running again several hours after the blaze was extinguished and assured customers there would be no supply impacts. It said machinery was undamaged by the fire.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was thought to have started by a drying device and fire crews’ efforts were hampered by hot and dry weather conditions.
