The Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA) has published its new five-year strategy – the first time the organisation has detailed its aims and activities for future years in a single document.

The new strategy differs from other years in that significant focus will be directed at specifiers, both directly and indirectly. FIRA will be undertaking large-scale projects such as the production and long-term dissemination of a specifier guide and the development of a carbon footprint benchmarking project, forming the first part of a broader sustainability measure for UK furniture.

The association also aims to identify the industry’s knowledge gaps and ensure it has the expertise to provide advice and consultancy to members. It will also monitor technological, legislative and business development trends.

A further aim is to nurture young talent both from within the business and from the wider industry.
