A competition for the design of ecological and economic wooden multi-storey building solutions is being organised in Finland.

The city of Kouvola is organising the challenge, in co-operation with the Finnish Forest Industries Federation, the Finnish Innovation Fund and other agencies.

City authorities want to use the competition to promote the industrial-scale production of new types of wooden multi-storey buildings and is also looking to establish a centre of excellence in wood construction and the development of new products for wood construction.

Applications are open until September 22, with the teams chosen to take part announcd on September 28.

Organisers expect some applications will be submitted by international teams collaborating with Finnish partners.

The winning design will be built in Kuusankoski.
