The annual growth of the timber stock in Finland is currently 100 million m³, according to a new report written by the Finnish Forest Research Institute.

The level of sustainable logging is about 70 million m³ annually, with about 55-56 million m³ harvested annually.

Finland comes second in Europe in terms of wood-based bioenergy production (20% of its energy), following Latvia (30%).

The report, published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in Finland, says Finland currently has 23 million ha of forest area, or 11% of Europe’s total forest area.
