A Good Faith Receipt agreement between Finnforest UK and B&Q is helping both companies minimise back office administration and improve stock management.

The agreement, the first between a direct-to-store supplier and B&Q, involves regular audits to ensure delivery accuracy levels at all B&Q stores do not fall below the 98.5% minimum agreed. To date, Finnforest says the level has remained at 100%.

The B&Q initiative has been made possible by the installation of electronic warehousing and radio frequency data capture at Finnforest’s Tilbury distribution centre. Teklogix hardware, including hand-held and truck-mounted terminals, executes all picking stock transactions electronically, directly updating the SAP trading system.

B&Q staff no longer have to perform a time-consuming line-by-line check on any Finnforest delivery, giving them more time for shelf replenishment, which in turns improves product availability.
