The Acorns Horticultural Centre in Edenbridge, Kent uses engineered timber throughout its design, including the Finnforest products for cladding, which has helped it to scoop a renewable energy award from the Government Office for the South East.

“Throughout the design we were committed to creating a modern inclusive environment, incorporating sustainable energy technology and renewable materials,” said Richard Ward, architectural director at Warburton Associates, the designers of the centre.

“We have been very pleased with our selection of ThermoWood and Kerto for the building in terms of aesthetics, function and environmental credentials.”

Other technologies used in the construction of the building include a ground source heat pump, a solar thermal hot water unit and a rainwater harvesting system.
