Timber building system supplier Fillcrete says it expects to benefit from the government’s Part L revision to the Building Regulations.
The Hull-based company says all its EVT wall constructions, based on an 89mm stud wall, satisfy the target U-value of 0.35W/m2K demanded by the regulations, while 95mm walls also meet the tougher target of 0.30W/m2K in Scotland.
Fillcrete says it has met the standards without the need for additional material or design changes.
Tim Folkes, Fillcrete managing director, said: ‘We welcome the Part L revision and, in fact, would like it to be more rigorous than even the Scottish regulations. Many of our customers are specifying EVT structures based on Masonite beams which, starting at 150mm in depth, deliver typical U-values of 0.22W/m2K or better.’
The company is doing work with ‘zero heat’ designs, which use EVT constructions of 240mm or deeper, delivering U-values of better than 0.14W/m2K.
Fillcrete’s EVT technology is designed to help walls breathe, keeping heat in and mositure out, and is based on the Masonite timber building system, Warmcel 500 insulation, Panelvent, Bitvent and Wallrak sheathing, plus Roofrak and Sarket roof sarking.
