Kent-based Torry Hill Chestnut Fencing is to supply 8½ miles of chestnut fencing and posts for use in the Olympic Village.

The Sittingbourne manufacturer won a contract with one of its main stockists Norbury Fencing to supply the fencing, which will protect newly-planted and seeded landscape sites around the village.

“Since gaining FSC certification last year we are now able to tender for bigger contracts, which is fantastic,” said Torry Hill owner John Leigh-Pemberton.

“Most government bodies, local authorities and contractors can only use FSC-certified wood so this now means we are able to broaden our client base and gain a good, solid reputation in these circles.”
