Children from 14 Shropshire schools and pre-schools are celebrating their first anniversary of involvement with the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin cluster group of the Forest Education Initiative (FEI) in conjunction with Shropshire Local Education Authority (LEA).
Enquiries for forest school activities in the area have increased to a point where more forest school leaders are now required.
Helen Howes, forest schools co-ordinator with Shropshire LEA and cluster group member, said: “Our Level 1 training course has enabled people to establish successful forest schools within their own school grounds.
“A pioneering Level 3 training course, designed to enable leaders to offer activities in local woodland sites, was oversubscribed this summer despite its intensive nature – such is the growing interest in forest schools here in Shropshire.”
