Falcon Panel Products has become the first company to achieve the BM TRADA Q-Mark for the Enhanced Lifetime Performance of Doors Scheme for its Strebord door cores.

BM TRADA Certification said the achievement provides the first step for any doorset fabricators who use the Falcon Strebord core to become certified themselves for the complete doorset, thus providing the verification required by the end user or specifier.

Andy Sumner, BM TRADA senior technical consultant, said the “enhanced” doorset scheme goes further than sister company Chiltern Dynamics’ classification for Service Life Test Programme (CDTMO1).

He said the scheme allows manufacturers to demonstrate to specifiers that products have passed CDTM01 and also that through regular audits of the manufacturing process, products and processes are maintained in line with the tested and approved products.

“Commercial customers have never before had this level of reassurance, that a doorset can demonstrate that it is fit for purpose in a given high-use environment,” said Mr Sumner.

He added that, as the first company to achieve certification for this scheme, Falcon has an advantage over competitors, as it could offer specifiers a product which could underpin the doorset’s enhanced lifetime performance, supported by independent third-party certification.
