Walter Fahrenschon will become the chairman of the board at Tauberbischofsheim-based Michael Weinig AG from June 1.

Mr Fahrenschon, who is qualified in engineering and business management (Academy of Business and Administration), joins from the Weinig Group, where he has been employed since 1994. Since 1999, he has been the sole managing director of Grecon Dimter Holzoptimierung GmbH & Co KG in Illerstissen, Germany. In addition to this, he acted as spokesperson for the managing directors of all Weinig subsidiaries within the Weinig Group.

“Mr Fahrenschon has made an excellent name for himself within the Weinig Group,” said Thomas Bach, chairman of the supervisory board. “He is highly regarded by his colleagues due to his team spirit and performance. He not only brings with him all the prerequisites to maintain the world-leading position of the Weinig Group in the face of ever-growing international competition; but also what it takes to build on this position.”

Mr Fahrenschon takes over from Rainer Hundsdörfer who wishes to relocate for personal reasons and take on a new professional challenge outside the world of wood processing.

“We would like to thank Rainer Hundsdörfer for his outstanding commitment to the Weinig Group,” said Mr Bach. “During his five years in the role, he has made some key decisions to secure the company’s future. His successor will be able to build on this.”
