The Brussels Furniture Show has served notice that temperate hardwood, especially oak, is once again the favoured species for European furniture.

The event, which had 350 exhibitors from 14 countries and about 15,000 professional visitors, found tropical hardwoods had all but disappeared, apart from teak which is being used for interiors and garden furniture.

The Classic category of the Furniture Trophy was won by an American white and European oak range called Xenon.
