The EU parliament has denounced the illegal exploitation of resources, including timber, in the Democratic Republic of Congo and wants to see those responsible punished.
The parliament passed a resolution condemning abuse of the nation’s resources by neighbouring countries and private international companies. It said access and control of key resources were one of the main causes of civil war in the Congo.
