Two environmentalists will share the keynote address at the International Wood Product Association’s (IWPA) 2002 World of Wood annual convention.

Bruce Cabarle of WWF US and Dr Patrick Moore, co-founder and former member of Greenpeace, will present an environmental perspective on the theme Sustainable Forests – Sustainable Trade.

Dr Moore will express his concern that the original broad-based vision of environmental awareness is threatened by a new philosophy of radical environmentalism and outline his search to reach a consensus between the forest industry and the environment.

Wendy Baer, IWPA executive vice-president, said: ‘Although dissimilar in approach and outlook, attendees will learn these NGOs’ perspective on forests and trade, and the challenges and opportunities facing them.’

Around 300 delegates are expected at the convention to take place at Palm Springs, California on April 17-19. For information visit www.iwpawood.org/convention.html.
