Elmia Wood, billed as the world’s largest forestry fair, is celebrating its 30th anniversary in Jönköping, Sweden on June 1-4.

As well as being the venue for the launch of a number of new products, the show will feature two major events – an international harvester competition using real machines and an international chainsaw championship.

The fair is also the venue of the Forwarder World Cup competition which attracts forwarder drivers from all over Europe, the US, Canada and Australia.

The Swedish forest contractors association, SMF, is launching the first international harvester championship which will see real harvesters used in the final. Qualifying rounds will be held in simulators on the first two days of the fair, with the two best operators from each day going forward to the final using real machines.

The Game of Logging competition focuses on the safe use of chainsaws and 16 operators have qualified to take part in the world championships at the fair.
