Malaysian hardwood flooring manufacturer Ekowood International Bhd is predicting annual double-digit revenue growth during the next four years due to increasing capacity at its factory in Gopeng, Perak.

The company is currently spending M$15m growing the factory’s capacity by 70% from the current production level of 14 millionft2 a year. The investment will be completed by the second quarter of 2006.

Ekowood, which has more than 1,000 showrooms worldwide, is also considering expanding into the Gulf region, with two sites at Abu Dhabi, Qatar being looked at. It has further plans to open an operation in Dubai next year.

The company says the Gulf region is experiencing a building boom, which it believes will grow demand for wood flooring.

Ekowood, which exports 93% of its flooring, posted net profits of M$5.7m during the first quarter.
