Egger is gearing up to build a new €150 OSB production facility alongside its chipboard factory in Romania.

The OSB line will have a 300,000m³ capacity and will target its output at the markets of central, eastern and southern Europe.

Egger expects to receive construction authorisation from authorities before the end of 2010.

Currently, the Radauti site produces 600,000m³ of chipboard annually and employs 400 people. The new factory will create 100 extra jobs.

At the moment, Egger has one OSB production facility at Wismar, Germany.

“This investment strengthens Egger and its expertise in the supply of structural wood-based materials, as well as creating conditions to further extend our market presence in eastern Europe,” said Ulrich Buhler, Egger group sales and marketing spokesperson.
