Egger has created two new UK distribution hubs and increased OSB group production capacity to ensure long-term supply of the product into the UK.

The panel producer, whose UK base is at Hexham, said the growth of timber frame and structural insulated panel (SIP) systems had increased demand for its Eurostrand OSB boards in this sector.

The new dedicated distribution hubs to service the whole of the UK are in Perth and the north-east of England.

Egger said the move would enable it to offer mixed loads of Eurostrand OSB3 with P5 flooring grade particleboards such as Egger Protect, Egger Peel Clean Xtra and Egger P5.

Egger’s OSB production capacity has been significantly expanded through a new plant in Radauti, Romania which has a capacity of 500,000m³. Further investment in the original OSB line at the Wismar plant in Germany takes capacity to 360,000m³, resulting in overall capacities at Egger of 860,000m³ per year.
