Russian competition authorities have given Egger the go-ahead to acquire Russian chipboard producer Gagarinskiy Fanerniy Zavod (Gagarin).
The factory, situated 150km west of Moscow, will become Egger’s 17th production plant and its second in Russia.
Gagarin has a capacity of 500,000m³ of raw chipboard, plus 80,000ha of forestland.
“Russia is a strategic growth market,” said Egger spokesperson Thomas Leissing. “The market has developed well during the economic crisis and continues to have great potential.”
The Gagarin plant was established in 2009 and features a continuous press and three short-cycle presses.
Egger has owned another chipboard plant in Shuya since 2005, with a 250,000m³ capacity of coated chipboard (Eurodekor).
