Egger will continue production at the former Masistar plant in Shildon, County Durham, according to a report in the German trade news service Euwid.
The latter states that after taking over Masistar, which went into receveivership earlier this year, Egger had originally planned to dismantle chipboard making machinery from the UK factory and ship it out to a site in Eastern Europe. But now it says the two single-opening production lines will remain in situ and that the plant is looking to recruit a new workforce.
Egger has other production sites in the UK at Auchinleck and Hexham. Personnel from the latter will oversee the restart of production at Shildon.
