Gang-Nail Systems’ Ecojoist beams have been used to create a roofing feature at the Blue Sky Way development in Monkton, South Tyneside.

Ian Belsham Architects, the firm behind the 34,000ft², 16-office development, wanted to create an exposed truss roof in order to “give a sense of space and freedom”.

Truss Systems Ltd, which was responsible for the timber frame element of the build, recommended the use of Ecojoists as purlins as a way to give the architects the finish they required.

This led to 5m-long Ecojoist beams being placed at regular gaps throughout the roof as part of the supporting structure for the built-up roof and cladding.
