The EC is investigating claims that attempts have been made to avoid hefty anti-dumping duties on Chinese okoumé plywood imports.

The EC’s anti-fraud office is asking all EU member states’ customs to monitor Chinese plywood imports and examine cases of suspected fraud.

The European Federation of the Plywood Industry has co-operated with the EC’s Directorate-General Trade in the development of an information document to help customs officials identify okoumé plywood.

Okoumé plywood is subject to a definitive import duty of 66.7%, with lower duties for four individual Chinese producers.
