Thousands of tonnes of illegally felled sandalwood is to be sold by East Timor’s government.
The timber, which had been confiscated by the agricultural ministry, is a protected species in the country but its high price (up to US$30 for a kilogram on the black market) is continuing to fuel illegal logging.
