Dynea is investing US$2.5m in the construction of the first panel resins plant in southern Thailand.

The plant, located near Krabi on the country’s western coast, will serve the fast-growing panel industry in the region and is expected to be running by the year’s end.

Don Jenkin, Dynea senior vice-president of panel resins in Asia Pacific, said: ‘This investment fits in well with our growth plans and is in line with our goal to be the principal panel board resin producer in Asia Pacific.’

The plant’s manufacturing capacity is 60,000 tonnes per year of adhesive resins, used mainly in panels such as plywood, particleboard and MDF.
