Carried out on behalf of the Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment, the report assessed the market share of certified timber on the Dutch market in 2005 and found that a total of 36.4% was from a certified forest or carried a certificate.

Of that percentage, 63% of sawn wood and panel timber and 56% of pulp matter was sourced from PEFC-certified sources.

However, the report’s authors have predicted that between 2005-2008, PEFC’s market share is unlikely to grow, while FSC timber “will continue to grow due to new voluntary agreements with different Dutch organisations”, making it the “most important on-product label” .
