Dustraction Ltd has installed a second woodwaste extraction system for packaging specialist Daher Aerospace Ltd as part of its recovery from a major fire.

A Dustrax No 27 RV Series woodwaste filter has been installed at Daher’s recently opened 70,000ft² plant in Derby, providing extraction for 14 machines including a range of saws, routers and moulders.

Featuring 108m² of filtration cloth and an air throughput volume of 7,035ft² per metre, the Dustrax is also self-cleaning, with an auto-shaker cleaning system, and is protected by explosion panels and a galvanised steel sheet cabinet.

Daher supplies a range of bespoke packaging to companies and organisations in the UK, including the Ministry of Defence and Rolls Royce, from three sites in Bristol, Poole and Derby.

Its previous Derby site was destroyed in January last year, when fire swept through the building. Derbyshire fire and rescue service commander Keith Brooks said that the amount of timber and other combustible materials in the building helped accelerate the blaze.

“Given that we are here in Derby as a result of our previous factory burning down, we’ve really had a very smooth ride,” said Adam Dickins, facilities development coordinator at Daher.

Dustraction also installed an extraction system at Daher’s Bristol site, which is designed to cope with wood and tri-wall card packaging waste.
