A year after pledging to plant one oak tree for every cubic metre of timber it sold, French sawmilling company Ducerf has announced that 5,000 young trees have been planted close to its main production site at Vendenesse Les Charolles, Burgundy.

The company, which was the first French company to receive the PEFC label, says it is committed to the environment and to sustainable forest management.

Naudet Seed Beds provided the 5,000 oak seedlings and pupils from the Forest College of Burgundy in Etang sur Arroux planted and took care of the young trees.

Ducerf said the Regional Centre of Forest Property supervised administration of the project.
