A Lancashire doorset manufacturer has become the first acquisition of a new investment fund involving a former senior executive at Hunter Timber.

Ormskirk-based European Wood Products, which trades as European Door Sets, has been bought by Brathay Investments for an undisclosed sum.

Brathay, whose directors include David Rogan, a former managing director of a division of Hunter Timber, has targeted the timber industry for investment.

“We like the timber sector because it is currently a very strong sector, and one I am familiar with,” said Mr Rogan. “This is a very successful business with a strong platform we can build on.”

Mr Rogan said Brathay was looking at investments from about £100,000 to “many millions”.

Brathay plans to grow European Wood Products, which supplies doors sets to the commercial and public sectors, by expanding its customer base.

The door company’s founder Paul Bailey will remain with the firm as a director.
