Arnold Laver, JELD-WEN, Kier and Sheffield Homes have worked together to develop a scheme for the major refit of council houses in the city – one of the largest single government contracts for doors ever made in Europe.

The signing of the contract took place at JELD-WEN’s Woodhouse Mill site where guests were able to tour the company’s new composite door factory and state-of-the-art European Research and Development Centre.

JELD-WEN is supplying 80,000 composite doorsets for the refit. All have Secured by Design security features, making them the preferred choice of South Yorkshire Police, and they will be used at the front and rear of houses across the city.

The factory-finished doorsets, which are low cost and easy to install, have been developed over 18 months by JELD-WEN in partnership with Arnold Laver, Kier and Sheffield Homes.

The tenants were also involved in the decision making process and development and the refurbishment work will be carried out in Sheffield over the next five years.
