The contract represents the first UK project for Swedish mechanical handling equipment specialist System Hall, which is partnering with Deeside Finishing on the job.

The move will boost the facility’s production capacity by 66%.

System Hall’s part of the integrated systems contract is worth £650,000 while Deeside’s supply of two new paint machines accounts for about £500,000. Other ancillary costs make up the total investment cost.

The first bundling line was commissioned in July and the second is due to become operational by the end of November. The handling machines are also being combined with spiral wrapping equipment.

The bundling machines operate at up to 250m/min, with a modem installed on each line to allow System Hall to monitor their performance and provide fault finding support remotely from its Gothenburg base.

The lines handle a large range of moulded and painted MDF products in widths of 25mm and above, as well as single MDF windowboards.

System Hall sales manager Joakim Blixt said the company was looking at a range of potential UK customers, from solid timber and MDF product processors, starting from planing mills and further downstream.

"We are particularly active in assisting various stages of processing in Sweden and Germany for clients manufacturing panel boards, flooring, basically any wood product. We are hoping this latest contract is just the first in the UK," he said.
