British Columbia-based forest products company Doman Industries Ltd reported earnings sharply down during the first quarter of 2001 – C$13.5m compared with C$46.4m in the first quarter of 2000. Earnings for the solid wood segment in the first three months of 2001 were C$6.9m compared with C$26.9m. There was extensive downtime at Doman’s sawmills because of poor lumber markets.
