Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy has paid tribute to the hard work of his local Dingwall Sawmill in achieving Investors in People status.

Presenting the award during a visit to the mill, the MP for Ross, Skye and Inverness West said: ‘The Investors in People award is not easy to obtain and is a meaningful recognition of good practice.’

The sawmill’s managing director Philip Blake revealed that his company had launched a new ‘Lego for gardens’ product at the recent GLEE show in Birmingham.

He said the WoodBlocX wooden wall kit comprises plastic dowels that lock together to create anything from terracing and patio boxes to low walls and decking support.

‘We are just starting production and hope it will be available to the public in the spring,’ he said.

Dingwall Sawmill’s main products at present are fencing slats, poles and rails.
