The two birch ply trees, designed by Atmos Studio, are spliced with thin curling layers of structural steel and were digitally fabricated by Woolwich-based Nicholas Alexander.

Laminated and bolted birch ply branches and trunks were designed to use minimal material and give good rigidity, yet encourage wind-responsive lightness.

Hundreds of apples have been placed in the trees for visitors to take.

The City of London Festival opened on June 23 and runs to July 26.
