Architects and builders are to be shown the benefits of wood construction at a Devon conference designed to promote the use of local wood.

Building with Wood – Local Timber for Local Housing, at Dartington Hall on February 12, will focus on timber use in small-scale rural housing projects.

Presentations from a south-west-based architect and the BRE will be supplemented by site visits and information about wood-fired heating.

The acclaimed Timber Talent Southwest Exhibition, featuring 16 of the most inspiring recent examples of timber in contemporary architecture, will also be present.

“This will be a really good opportunity for architects, developers and planners to find out more about what is available on their doorsteps in terms of local timber,” said Jez Ralph, of organiser South West Woodland Renaissance.
