Designated ports are to be used by Malaysia and Indonesia in an effort to halt the export of illegal logs.

Malaysian deputy prime minister Seri Najib Tun Razak, who chaired the recent 34th general border committee Malaysia-Indonesia, said the countries were currently identifying such ports.

He said logs shipped from non-designated ports would be declared as illegal.

The move is designed to help cut illegal log exports from Kalimantan to Sabah and Sarawak.
