Danzer has made strides towards Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification in the Republic of Congo.
The company’s subsidiary Industrie Forestiere d’Ouesso (IFO) has had its forest management plan approved by the Republic’s government, and this, says Danzer, is an important step towards the ultimate goal of FSC certification.
IFO’s 1.16 million ha forest concession is the largest single concession in Africa with an approved forest management plan. Danzer Group has invested about €2m to develop the plan.
An audit, expected to take place this year, is the next step towards FSC certification.
