Danzer Group says it will soon be able to offer African timber and veneer with full Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certificates.

The group, whose African subsidiaries have already passed independent legality audits, said the step-by-step full FSC certification process would start this year in co-operation with WWF.

Danzer says most of its European and North American veneer production, as well as more than 50% of its African output, meet the FSC Controlled Wood standard.

The FSC Mixed Sources label stipulates that 70% of the wood in a product comes from FSC forests and the rest from FSC controlled sources.
