Danzer Forestland, the timberland management arm of veneer manufacturer Danzer Group, has bought 12,000ha of woodland in New York and Pennsylvania.
Two properties were acquired in the purchase, which Danzer said would help to further demonstrate its commitment to sustainable forest management.
The company’s purchase of the Granshue property in New York from McDonald Investment Corporation involves sugar maple, black cherry and yellow birch stands. No trees will be harvested during the next three decades.
Danzer‘s acquisition of the Hammermill Tracts in Pennsylvania includes high quality cherry and hard maple for harvesting today and in the future.
Danzer Group, which has six veneer mills and five sawmills in North America, Europe and Africa, now owns about 20,000ha of hardwood forestland in the north-east of North America. Further acquisitions are planned.
