The first Danish Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes (PEFC) chain of custody certificate has been issued to Hvalsoe Sawmill Ltd.
Hvalsoe, one of the country’s leading hardwood sawmills, aims to use PEFC certification as a sales tool to strengthen its profile and gain market advantage over competitors.
Company manager Martin Nyrop-Larsen admitted that German and French competitors are currently a step ahead concerning certification of wood products. But he hopes this will change as the Danish forest industry moves more into certification.
